    Care Instructions

Your Ideas linen deserves the best care possible. Follow the suggestions below to maintain your linens for a lifetime and more!

Washing Basic Linen:

  • Always separate light and dark colors before washing.
  • Home laundering is recommended for all of our linens, except where dry cleaning is indicated.
  • Select a gentle laundry detergent.
  • Pre-wash all linens before use. Cotton bedding should be washed separately and not with polyester blends because polyester "pills," and will shed its pilling on natural fibers, diminishing the smoothness and softness of the fabric.
  • Cotton bedding should be washed in warm water, using a gentle laundering agent, with a final cold rinse. If pre-soaking is necessary, it should be in cold water.
  • Remove washed bedding promptly from the machine; this helps reduce wrinkling.
  • Shaking damp linens out before drying (at low heat) will also reduce wrinkles and quicken the drying time.
  • Products with bluing agents or whiteners are not recommended on colored linens, as they may progressively fade the colors.

Washing Baby Articles:

We recommend that you go for detergents that preserve fabric softness, surface appearance and provide color protection

  • Sheets: To avoid wrinkling, wash in warm water. Remove from dryer as soon as they are dry in order to keep the nice soft feeling. Shake out and smooth by hand while still warm.
  • Baby's Towels: To keep them fluffy and most comfortable against the skin, shake out before and after putting in dryer (be advised that machine drying can weaken the fabric over time). This opens up the loops, which get stuck down during washing. It will also make your towel more absorbent and able to do a better job of drying baby's skin.
  • Fabric Softener: Fabric softener although makes the towel softer, but it will also make them less absorbent. The fabric softener actually makes the towel loops repel water, rather than soak it up.
  • Guidelines for Bleaching: Bleaching is generally not recommended for newborn's clothing, as their skin is most sensitive and can react to the bleach. It is most important that bleached articles are rinsed twice, once in cold water, once in warm.
  • Washing Baby's Stuffed Toys: Babies usually have a favorite stuffed toy that they carry with them everywhere. It is important to keep them clean. Before washing always check the manufacturer's label to see if the toy is machine washable. If it is, mend any rips and tears, and then place inside a pillowcase. Tie closed. Place two bundles at a time in the washing machine or add some towels. Having one on each side will keep the machine balanced. Agitate 1-2 minutes on a gentle cycle. Rinse well. Tumble dry, fluffing periodically to prevent lumps from forming.

Washing Bath Linens
Terry Towels:

  • Always launder towels before using them for the first time.
  • During first wash, add one half to 1 cup of white vinegar to the wash water. This will help set the dyes and result in increased colorfastness.
  • Washing terry towels before use begins the "breaking in" process, making them softer and more absorbent. Several washings are required for 100% cotton terry towels to achieve their maximum absorbency, softness and fluff.
  • Launder towels in warm water and a gentle detergent. It is particularly important. Avoid using bleach.
  • It is recommended not to use fabric softener, since it decreases the absorbency of the towel.

Washing Table Linens

  • Table linens should be washed in warm water and gentle detergent, with a final cold rinse.
  • Fabric softeners are not recommended, since they decrease absorbency and impart a fragrance that can be disconcerting.
  • Remove table linens promptly from the wash, and shake out to help minimize wrinkles before drying.
  • Always follow the washing instructions given on the care label of the article.
